Day 29

out the window
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
A window screen can be very useful for adding texture to an otherwise "blah" photo without the need for photoshopping. This particular picture was taken looking out my bedroom window to the complex next door. While it's a beautiful area, nature-wise, the building's typically detract from the natural beauty and something else was needed to make the photo look good again.

Day 28

through the tree
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
I love pine trees: the smell, the look, always green (until they die on you). Beautiful trees, but not fun to take pictures of when you live in the city. So, instead, I took a picture looking through the branches. I feel this shot has more character than just a shot of the tree. As well, it allows for more detail of what makes the tree special.

Day 27

glass ceiling
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
I've always like the way the ceiling looked in the food court at the mall I work at, so I took a picture. I think it turned out pretty good with interesting colors and a good angle. Might try it again soonish from a different angle just to see how that one looks.

Day 26

landscape
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
One of these days I won't post pictures taken from around the mall... today is not that day. Another lovely area outside the mall I work in, and further proof that it's all in how you look at it that determines how the picture can turn out.

Day 25

rocks
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
More landscape from outside the mall. In and of themselves they're nothing special, but at the right angle you can get a fairly cool looking shot. Yet another example of how changing your perspective can mean finding beauty in an oridinary world.

Day 24

reflection in puddle
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
As I continue to try and look at the world differently through the eye of my cellphone, I decided to attempt a photo of a reflection in a parking lot puddle. I have to say that I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Day 23

Day 22

wild flower
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
There are some wild flowers growing outside the mall I work at, and for the longest time I just saw them as weeds. Today, for some reason, I liked the way they looked and tried to get a close-up of one of them... but, apparently, my phone can't do extreme close-ups and the result was this. The flower I was trying to get a picture of is blurry, and the flowers behind it aren't. So much for the "infinite focus" setting, but at least it still looks kind of cool.

Day 21

pond
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
This was taken at a pond close to my girlfriends apartment. I love it out there, despite being in the middle of suburbia it feels peaceful. It was getting too dark to shoot in regular mode, but was just light enough for photos to turn out in night mode... albeit looking very blue.

Day 20

pano-fox
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
It's still Tuesday somewhere, so I still have time to make this update right? Tuesday nights mean a trip to Fox for me and my friends, and it's always fun to see how the lighting there will effect photos. That, and people are always on the move. Take Fogle here, who moved while I snapped another panoramic shot, creating a slightly see-through look to his head. I thought it looked cool, so here it is in the blog.

Day 19

vending machine
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
I see this vending machine everyday at work and had been wondering how it would look as a nightshot. The answer: not too bad. The glow of the text is particularly eye catching. Overall, the photo may not be anything to write home about; but it was still great practice for lighting and blog-worthy.

Day 18

J and J
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
This is a pic of my two youngest nephews doing what they do best... goofing around. I love taking pictures of them as they always display the purist of their personalities. A good portrait shows you a person, but a great portrait shows you THE person. Anyone can sit and smile, and that's why I prefer people who let their personality show up in photographs.

Day 17: Missed

Sorry, guys, I missed day 17 due to my phone dying on me by the time I got to where I was planning on taking pictures... Taste Addison. So, instead you'll just have to try and imagine a Foreigner concert shot here.

Day 16

green night
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
I love how this one turned out, the green tint and contrast of light and shadow gives it kind of an eerie/forboding feel. As if any second something's going to pop out at you. Keep watching it incase something does...

Day 15

light
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
Another one where changing the perspective made the difference. When I first saw the light box on the side of the wall I had no idea what it actually was, but when I got closer and looked down at it to see that it was a light is when I noticed how cool it looked. I'm very pleased with how the photo turned out, showing a lot of the detail that stood out to me.

Day 13

another sunset
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
I like sunsets more than sunrises, but only because it doesn't mean I had to get up early to see it. I feel it's easier to enjoy them knowing I've survived another day. The clouds help add some character in this particular picture as they hide the sun.

Day 12

the sky at dusk
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
I liked the way the sky looked, so I started taking pictures. Unfortunately all pictures of just the sky and cloud cover didn't really show any of the detail that I was wanting, so I tried with the lights visible and this is what I got.

Day 11

lighting up life
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
Sometimes, to find the photo that's really going to cut it, you have to step back... or step down. It's important to try and look at things from a different perspective, ordinary things can look new.

I like how the light and shadows work together in this photo, looking at the light from the normal angle would have meant missing out on a lot of that.

Day 10

looking up
Originally uploaded by Saint BK
This photo was taken about an hour or so before the severe weather warning and tornado panic (never touched down, but we hid anyways). What gets me about this photo is the different shading that goes on. The sun had moved behind a cloud as I was trying to snap this taller panoramic shot. Still not prefect on layering, but lets see you try this on your phone. ;-)

Day 9

pano-night 2
Originally uploaded by Saint BK

The thing with night-shots, even with "real" camera's, is that you have to be careful of too much shaking. You can use tripods to help you out with normal cameras, but cellphones don't have that option... yet. They try to make up for it with, what seems to be, a better quality "steady shot" than I've seen on any regular camera. The result, seen in the picture.
